Classes
In the Satyananda Tradition
we have different levels of yoga practises
It is usually divided up into 3 levels so that you can attend at the level
that is appropriate to you
Gentle Yoga:
You start with this to get to know your body strengths and weaknesses and
become aware of how to switch off
The techniques used are gentle stretching, Yogic breathing and relaxation
Continuation Classes:
You move onto this level when you feel ready.
The postures get stronger and you work at a deeper level with Pranayama
(breathing) and simple Meditation techniques.
Advanced Classes:
At this level you start working with strong classical postures, meditation,
mudras, bandhas and Chakras. Only for experienced people
Yoga Nidra is introduced in
the Gentle Yoga class. This is a deep relaxation
technique which is expanded upon week by week, right up to the Advanced class,
by teachers who understand how it works. It was revived from the Tantric
tradition by Swami
Satyananda and is one of the easiest and best
ways to go into deep relaxation and to bring about change in daily patterns.
Meditation is introduced in the Continuation classes and there are many
techniques you can work with.
Chakras
are part of the yogic physiology, with regular practice you start to become aware of you energy field and energy
centres. You can work with this in great depth.
Handouts
are provided at the different levels as the classes progress so you can
enjoy yoga at home
and make it part of your life.
